Matte or Gloss: What Each One Actually Does
- Matte black – a soft-touch, non-reflective surface that reads as understated and premium. Fingerprints and light scuffing show less on matte than gloss, which matters for boxes that get handled repeatedly on a retail counter.
- Gloss black – a reflective, polished surface that reads as sharper and more modern. Gloss shows fingerprints more easily but gives a crisper look for photography and unboxing videos.
